I’m excited to announce that I am able to now offer testing of toys and other household items for lead, cadmium, chromium and other elements! Have you been wondering whether your child’s toys are contaminated with lead or any other potentially harmful metal? Well, I can answer that question for you.
I’ve acquired a handheld, portable X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) device that can be used to screen toys and children’s jewelry, as well as other household items, for lead, cadmium, chromium and other elements. This is an instant read device. The tests do not destroy the toy, do not leave a markt on the toy, and are relatively quick. I come to you – at home – to test your toys. Find out what is actually lurking in that toy box.
I can also help schools, day cares, churches, or any place where you might be concerned about lead exposure.
Why would you want to test? Well, lead exposure is cumulative, and all the little exposures can add up. Lead poisoning can cause permanent damage to the brain, nervous system and kidneys. Children under the age of 5 years are particularly at risk for lead exposure. With all the recent recalls for toys and children’s jewelry, you may be wondering about whether the toy box is toxic, and frustrated because you can’t find the answers. This testing will give you information about the lead levels, as well as other elements, in the toys.
I come to you and test at your home! Or put a group together and we’ll have a toy testing party. Or, you can mail me toys to test. Read more here.
