Wonderful, Jennifer! It's very satisfying to use a harvest of fruit to make jams, jelly, conserves. I made kumquat conserves the past couple years while I had access to a friend's neighbor's trees. They were loaded with this small ovall citrusy fruit. I didn't even need to buy pectin b/c the seeds themselves are a natural source of it. I put some seeds in little muslin bags and added them to the pot of boiling fruit. I never used the amount of sugar that most of the recipes I found called for. Like you, I want to taste the essence of the fruit. The results were delish. Those I shared it with also loved it. I enjoyed the conserves best on toast (buttered with some coconut oil). Keep up your inspiring works! My Best Wishes. PS I am sharing your book with others when I go to give a workshop on green living. It's a great book and I really do appreciate the treasure trove of info in it.

I rarely write responses, but i did a few searching and wound up here Land of Fruits and Nuts - Preserving the Harvest -
Day 2 - Orange & Whiskey Marmalade. And I actually
do have 2 questions for you if it's allright. Could it be just me or does it look like some of the comments come across like they are coming from brain dead people? :-P And, if you are writing on additional places, I'd
like to follow everything new you have to post.

I am not shocked about this tactic. Huge companies love to have a green imagine and, therefore, do a lot of "greenwashing."

In regards to the "mommy wars," we need to be supporting each other and creating a community. A little competition is not a big deal, but when it is undermining our ultimate goal of becoming better mothers, green mothers and healthier families, then something needs to change.

I stumbled onto your article too late. Just opened escrow and I find myself in the exact same place you were, with Tradewinds, and a lot of the same junk fees. Is there anything I can do at this point? Can I just ask to have those fees removed/reduced?
